Material 1.4541 is a heat-resistant alloy supplied to numerous industries. The main feature of this grade is the additional titanium content (0.7 %), which stabilizes the material and makes its resistance to carbide precipitation at high temperatures and its oxidation resistance among its key characteristics.
Although this stainless steel grade retains its good strength and corrosion resistance when exposed to high temperatures, like most austenitic grades it also maintains its strength and toughness at subzero temperatures, making it an excellent choice for various applications ranging from oil refinery equipment to automotive exhaust systems. This heat-resistant stainless steel grade has a maximum operating temperature in dry air of 850 ºC.
AISI 321 is the alloy of choice for applications in the temperature range up to approx. 900 °C, combining high strength, scale resistance, and phase stability with resistance to subsequent aqueous corrosion.
