Material 1.4541 is a heat-resistant stainless steel alloy widely used across various industries. Its key feature is the addition of 0.7% titanium, which enhances stability, prevents carbide precipitation at high temperatures, and offers strong oxidation resistance.
This grade maintains excellent strength and corrosion resistance under elevated temperatures, and like other austenitic steels, it also remains tough and strong at sub-zero temperatures. This makes it suitable for a wide range of uses, including oil refining equipment and automotive exhaust systems. The maximum recommended operating temperature in dry air is 850ºC.
AISI 321 is preferred for applications up to approximately 900°C, offering high strength, resistance to scaling, phase stability, and good resistance to subsequent corrosion in aqueous environments.
