Grade 1.4541 is a heat-resistant stainless steel alloy widely used across various industries. Its key feature is the addition of titanium (0.7%), which enhances the material's stability, resistance to carbide precipitation at high temperatures, and oxidation resistance.
This stainless steel maintains both its strength and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures and, like other austenitic grades, remains tough and strong even at sub-zero temperatures. This makes it suitable for a range of uses, including oil refinery equipment and automotive exhaust systems. It is heat resistant up to 850ºC in dry air.
AISI 321 is the preferred alloy for applications up to approximately 900°C, offering high strength, excellent scaling resistance, phase stability, and protection against subsequent water-based corrosion.
