1.4541 is a heat-resistant stainless steel alloy widely used across various industries. Its key feature is the addition of titanium (0.7%), which stabilizes the material, providing excellent resistance to carbide precipitation at elevated temperatures and outstanding oxidation resistance.
This grade maintains both strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures and, like other austenitic steels, also retains toughness and durability at sub-zero temperatures. This makes it suitable for numerous applications, such as oil refinery equipment and automotive exhaust systems. The maximum operating temperature in dry air is 850°C.
AISI 321 (1.4541) is the preferred alloy for use up to approximately 900°C, combining high strength, resistance to scaling, phase stability, and protection against subsequent aqueous corrosion.
