The brass round bar (material number 2.0401, CuZn39Pb3, Ms58) is an alloy primarily made of copper (approx. 57-59%), zinc (approx. 36-40%), and lead (approx. 2.5-3.5%), with minor additions of nickel, iron, tin, and aluminum. This material is supplied in sawn lengths with a length tolerance of +/-2mm. Please note that the ends of the sawn bars may be sharp and not deburred, and the supplied pieces might look different from the product photos showing the production length. Brass round bar 2.0401 is known for its excellent hot formability and very good machinability, making it suitable for a wide range of manufacturing processes. It is ideal for soft and hard soldering as well as mechanical polishing, but not for electrolytic or chemical polishing. Due to its lead content, weldability is limited to resistance welding; other common welding methods such as manual arc, gas, TIG, and MIG welding are not recommended. The alloy has relatively low corrosion resistance, especially in contact with water, salt solutions, and organic liquids. Common applications include fittings, tap handles, screws, nuts, valve bodies, cable clamps, ballpoint pen tips, and various parts for electrical and general mechanical engineering.
