Brass round bar (material number 2.0401, CuZn39Pb3/Ms58) is an alloy primarily composed of copper (57-59%), zinc (36-40%), and lead (2.5-3.5%). It is supplied with a length tolerance of +/-2mm, and please note that the ends of cut bars may be sharp or not deburred; the delivered product may differ from the production-length photos. This brass round bar is readily available from stock, with shipping preparation taking 2-3 business days. Delivery time depends on the chosen parcel service—refer to our FAQ for more details. If you require different steel grades or dimensions, please contact our sales team for a custom offer. Brass CuZn39Pb3 offers excellent machinability and hot formability, making it suitable for soft and hard soldering, as well as mechanical polishing (not suitable for electrolytic or chemical polishing). Its cold formability is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Due to its lead content, weldability is restricted: resistance welding is recommended, while manual arc, gas, TIG, and MIG welding methods are not suitable. The alloy has relatively low corrosion resistance, especially in salt solutions, organic liquids, and water. Typical applications include fittings, tap handles, screws, nuts, valve bodies, electrical and mechanical engineering parts, cable clamps, and ballpoint pen tips. Key properties are very good hot formability, outstanding machinability, suitability for soldering, good punching and mechanical polishing properties, limited weldability, and moderate corrosion resistance.
