The brass round bar, material number 2.0401 (CuZn39Pb3), consists of about 57-59% copper, 2.5-3.5% lead, and the remainder is zinc (36-40%). It can be hot-formed easily, while maximum hardness and strength are achieved through cold forming, though this process is limited by the risk of stress corrosion. The material offers excellent machinability and is ideal for both soft and hard soldering. It is easy to stamp and suitable for mechanical polishing, but not for electrolytic or chemical polishing.

Due to its lead content, the weldability of this brass bar is limited.
