The brass round bar (material number 2.0401, CuZn39Pb3) consists of approximately 57-59% copper, 2.5-3.5% lead, with the remainder being mainly zinc (36-40%). This alloy is easy to hot-work and achieves high hardness and strength through cold working, though cold formability is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. The brass bar offers excellent machinability and is suitable for both soft and hard soldering. It is easy to stamp and can be mechanically polished, but not by electrolytic or chemical methods.

Due to its lead content, this brass is only suitable for limited welding. The following welding processes should be avoided: manual arc welding, gas welding, TIG, and MIG welding. Resistance welding is the most appropriate method for this material. Brass 2.0401 Ms58 has moderate corrosion resistance and is not recommended for use with salt solutions, organic liquids, or water.
