Brass round bar CuZn39Pb3 (material number 2.0401) is an alloy consisting mainly of copper (57-59%), zinc (36-40%), and lead (2.5-3.5%), with small amounts of other elements. The bars are cut to length with a tolerance of +/-2mm. Please note that the cut ends may be sharp and not deburred, and the appearance may differ from the production-length product photos. This brass grade offers excellent hot formability and very good machinability, making it suitable for both soft and hard soldering, as well as mechanical polishing and punching. However, its cold formability is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking, and it is not suitable for electrolytic or chemical polishing. Weldability is restricted; resistance welding is recommended, while manual arc, gas, TIG, and MIG welding should be avoided. The corrosion resistance of this alloy is relatively low, especially against water, salt solutions, and organic liquids. Common applications for brass round bar CuZn39Pb3 include fittings, tap handles, screws, nuts, valve bodies, electrical and mechanical components, cable clamps, and ballpoint pen tips.
