Brass round bar CuZn39Pb3 (material number 2.0401) is an alloy made primarily of copper (about 57–59%), zinc (about 36–40%), and lead (about 2.5–3.5%), with minor additions of nickel, iron, tin, aluminum, and other elements. The length tolerance is +/-2mm. Please note that the ends of sawn bars may be sharp and not deburred; the supplied bars may differ in appearance from production-length bars shown in product photos. This brass round bar is readily available from stock and ships within 2–3 working days. Delivery time depends on the parcel service—please refer to our FAQ for details. If you need different dimensions or grades, contact our sales team for a customized offer. CuZn39Pb3 is known for excellent hot formability, very good machinability, and suitability for both soft and hard soldering. It is also easy to stamp and can be mechanically polished, but is not suitable for electrolytic or chemical polishing. However, its cold formability is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. The material is best welded by resistance welding; it is not suitable for manual arc, gas, TIG, or MIG welding. Corrosion resistance is relatively low, especially in contact with water, various salt solutions, and organic liquids. Typical applications include fittings and tap handles, screws and nuts, valve bodies, electrical and mechanical engineering components, cable clamps, and ballpoint pen tips.
