The brass round bar with material number 2.0401 consists of approximately 57-59% copper, 2.5-3.5% lead, and the remainder zinc (about 36-40%). This material is easily hot-worked, while its high strength and hardness are achieved by cold working, though cold forming is limited due to possible stress corrosion cracking. Brass round stock offers excellent machinability and is suitable for both soft and hard soldering. The CuZn39Pb3 alloy is easy to stamp and can be mechanically polished, but is not suited for electrolytic or chemical polishing.
