The brass round bar (material number 2.0401, CuZn39Pb3) consists of approximately 57–59% copper, 2.5–3.5% lead, and the balance is zinc (36–40%). This material is easily hot formable, and high strength is achieved through cold working, although extensive cold forming is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. The brass round bar offers excellent machinability and is suitable for both soft and hard soldering. It can be stamped and is best polished mechanically (not suitable for electrolytic or chemical polishing). Manual arc welding, gas welding, TIG, and MIG welding are not recommended; resistance welding is best suited.
