Inconel® 600 is a high-temperature alloy composed of nickel, chromium, and iron. It offers excellent resistance in nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing environments, and withstands exposure to various acids (acetic, formic, hydrofluoric, fatty acids), ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (up to about 500°C). This alloy is also highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking. With stable mechanical properties across a broad temperature range (up to 1050°C), 2.4816 remains reliable even in reducing conditions due to its high nickel content. Note that this material is not hardenable.
If you are seeking Inconel® 600, Evek GmbH Online Shop provides premium nickel alloys and exceptional customer service.
Thanks to its outstanding heat resistance, Inconel® 600 is widely used in furnace construction, including for transport rollers and seals. The alloy is also suitable for reactor construction (such as reactor vessels and steam dryers) and, due to its resistance to alkaline solutions, is ideal for manufacturing tubs and pipes. Other common uses include:
- Plant components for producing chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and fluorine
- Automotive industry (e.g., high-temperature sensors, burst discs for airbags)
- Vinyl chloride production (reaction vessels, heat exchangers)
- Catalysis generators
Key characteristics of Inconel® 600:
- Excellent resistance in nitrous, carburizing, and oxidizing media
- Strong resistance to acids, ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride up to approx. 500°C
- High resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Stable mechanical properties over a wide temperature range
- Performs well in reducing environments
- Not hardenable
