Inconel® 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy designed for use at high temperatures. It offers excellent resistance to nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing environments, as well as acids like acetic, formic, hydrofluoric, and fatty acids, plus ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (up to around 500°C). Alloy 600 is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and maintains strong mechanical properties across a broad temperature spectrum up to 1050°C. Its high nickel content provides stability in reducing conditions. Note: 2.4816 cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
If you need Inconel® 600, Evek GmbH Online Shop supplies high-quality nickel alloys with outstanding customer service.
Thanks to its exceptional heat resistance, Inconel® 600 is widely used in furnace construction for items such as transport rollers and seals. It is also suitable for reactor construction (reactor vessels, steam dryers), and, due to its resistance to alkaline solutions, for manufacturing tubs and pipes. Other applications include:
- Components for chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and fluorine production plants;
- Automotive industry (HT sensors, airbag bursting discs);
- Vinyl chloride manufacturing (reaction vessels, heat exchangers);
- Catalysis generators.
Key characteristics of Inconel® 600:
- Excellent resistance in nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing environments;
- High resistance to various acids, ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (to approx. 500°C);
- Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking;
- Strong mechanical properties across a wide temperature range;
- Stable in reducing environments;
- Not hardenable by heat treatment.
