Inconel® 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy designed for high-temperature applications. This material offers excellent resistance in nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing environments. It is also highly resistant to a variety of acids—such as acetic, formic, hydrofluoric, and fatty acids—as well as to ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (up to around 500°C). Alloy 600 is noted for its strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking and retains good mechanical properties across a wide temperature range, from low temperatures up to 1050°C. Its high nickel content ensures stability in reducing environments. Please note, this alloy is not hardenable.
If you need Inconel® 600, you can find it at the Evek GmbH Online Shop, where top-quality nickel alloys are paired with excellent customer service.
Thanks to its outstanding heat resistance, Inconel® 600 is widely used in furnace construction, such as for making transport rollers and seals. It is also applied in reactor engineering (reactor vessels, steam dryers) and, due to its resistance to alkaline solutions, is suitable for tubs and piping. Other common uses include:
- Plant components for producing chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and fluorine
- Automotive industry (high-temperature sensors, bursting discs for airbags)
- Production of vinyl chloride (reactors, heat exchangers)
- Catalysis generators
