Inconel® 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy designed for high-temperature use. It demonstrates excellent resistance to nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing environments. The alloy is highly resistant to acids such as acetic, formic, hydrofluoric, and fatty acids, as well as to ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (up to about 500°C). Inconel 600 (2.4816) also offers good protection against stress corrosion cracking and maintains strong mechanical properties across a broad temperature spectrum, from very low to very high temperatures (up to 1050°C). Its high nickel content ensures stability in reducing conditions, and this grade cannot be hardened.
You can find Inconel® 600 in the Evek GmbH online shop, where we provide premium nickel alloys and excellent customer service.
Due to its outstanding heat resistance, Inconel® 600 is widely used in furnace construction for components such as transport rollers and seals. It’s also suitable for reactor construction (including reactor vessels and steam dryers) and is used for making tubs and pipes that handle alkaline solutions. Other typical applications for Alloy 600 include:
- Plant equipment for producing chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and fluorine
- Automotive industry (e.g., high-temperature sensors, airbag burst discs)
- Vinyl chloride production (reaction vessels, heat exchangers)
- Catalysis generators
Key properties of Inconel® 600 include:
- Excellent resistance to nitriding, carburizing, and oxidizing conditions
- High resistance to various acids, ammonia, chlorine, and hydrogen chloride (up to approx. 500°C)
- Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Reliable mechanical properties across a wide temperature range
- Stable in reducing environments
- Not hardenable by heat treatment
