Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy designed for high-temperature applications. It contains about 1.5% cobalt and around 1% manganese, offering excellent mechanical strength both at low and high temperatures up to 1050°C. This material is highly resistant to heat and corrosion, making it suitable for demanding environments. Inconel 600 is particularly resistant to chlorine gas and hydrogen chloride up to approximately 500-550°C, and it performs well in nitriding or carburizing atmospheres as well as against stress corrosion cracking. Note that this alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
