Grade 1.4828 is a heat-resistant, austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that offers excellent oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. Its composition is similar to X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841, with a lower chromium and nickel content but the same silicon and carbon levels. The grade selection often depends on pricing, which is influenced by the alloying elements and the working environment’s aggressiveness. 1.4828 steel can be used at temperatures up to 1100-1150°C.
This material is highly resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at elevated temperatures, and exposure to gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
