The heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that is resistant to oxidation in air up to a temperature of 950 °C. H20N12S2 has a similar chemical composition to X15CrNiSi25-21, 1.4841.

The materials described differ in that they have a relatively low chromium and nickel content in their chemical composition. The common feature is the same content of silicon and carbon. The choice of grade is determined by the price, which results from the content of alloying additions and the degree of aggressiveness of the working environment of the earthing element. The material 1.4828 can be used up to a maximum temperature of 1100 - 1150 °C.

The material 1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high operating temperatures and to gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
