Grade 1.4828 is a heat-resistant, austenitic stainless steel alloyed with chromium, nickel, and silicon. It offers strong oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C and can be used at temperatures as high as 1100–1150°C. Comparable to grades such as X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841, it has slightly lower chromium and nickel content, but maintains similar silicon and carbon levels. The selection of this material often depends on cost and the specific requirements of the working environment.
1.4828 is suitable for use in nitriding, carbonitriding, and carburizing atmospheres, and resists embrittlement at high temperatures as well as exposure to nitrogen and oxygen-containing gases.
