Steel 1.4828 is a heat-resistant, austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that withstands oxidation in air up to 950°C. Also known as H20N12S2, it shares similar chemical properties with X15CrNiSi25-21 (1.4841).
This material stands out due to its relatively lower chromium and nickel content, while maintaining the same levels of silicon and carbon. The grade selection depends on price, alloy composition, and the specific requirements of the operating environment. Material 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100–1150°C.
1.4828 steel is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at elevated temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
