Heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic stainless steel with chromium, nickel, and silicon, offering excellent oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. Also known as H20N12S2, its chemical composition is similar to X15CrNiSi25-21 (1.4841).
This material stands out for its relatively low chromium and nickel content, but maintains the same silicon and carbon levels as related grades. The choice of alloy depends on price, alloying content, and the working environment’s level of aggressiveness. 1.4828 is suitable for use at temperatures up to 1100-1150°C.
1.4828 steel is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
