1.4828 is a heat-resistant, austenitic stainless steel containing chromium, nickel, and silicon. It is resistant to oxidation in air up to 950°C. Its chemical composition is similar to X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841 steel grades.
Compared to similar steels, 1.4828 has slightly lower chromium and nickel content but maintains the same levels of silicon and carbon. The selection of this grade often depends on price and the level of environmental aggressiveness in which it will be used. 1.4828 can be utilized at temperatures up to 1100–1150°C.
This material is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
