1.4828 heat-resistant steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that withstands oxidation in air up to 950 °C. It is chemically similar to H20N12S2 and X15CrNiSi25-21 (1.4841).
This material is distinguished by its relatively lower chromium and nickel content, while maintaining the same silicon and carbon levels. The grade selection depends on price, alloy composition, and the aggressiveness of the operating environment. 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100–1150 °C.
1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
