The heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel, offering oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. H20N12S2 has a similar chemical composition to X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841.
These materials are distinguished by their relatively lower chromium and nickel content, while maintaining similar levels of silicon and carbon. The selection of grade depends on price, which is influenced by alloying elements and the conditions of use. 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100–1150°C.
1.4828 steel is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
