1.4828 is a heat-resistant, austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel, offering excellent oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. Also known as H20N12S2, it is similar in composition to X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841, though it contains slightly lower levels of chromium and nickel while maintaining the same silicon and carbon content. The choice between these grades often depends on cost and the specific requirements of the working environment. 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100 - 1150°C.
This material is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and to gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
