Heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel, designed to withstand oxidation in air at temperatures up to 950°C. The alloy, also known as H20N12S2, shares a similar chemical composition with X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841.
Compared to similar materials, 1.4828 contains relatively lower amounts of chromium and nickel, but maintains the same silicon and carbon content. The choice between grades is influenced by cost, which is determined by the alloying elements and the aggressiveness of the operating environment. Steel 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100–1150°C.
This material is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at elevated temperatures, and exposure to gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
