Stainless steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon alloy, designed for high heat resistance and oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. Also known as H20N12S2, its composition is similar to X15CrNiSi25-21 (1.4841).
This material stands out for its relatively lower chromium and nickel content, while maintaining consistent levels of silicon and carbon. The selection of steel grade often depends on cost, alloying elements, and the aggressiveness of the working environment. 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100 - 1150°C.
1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, high-temperature embrittlement, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
