The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is crafted from a copper-zinc-lead alloy. Its composition includes approximately 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. CuZn39Pb3 is a primary alloy for machining applications in Germany, especially well-suited for use in automatic machining. While hexagonal brass is easy to punch and offers excellent machinability, it has relatively low resistance to corrosion. The material is ideal for hot forming and can be cold-formed to a limited extent due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Increased hardness and strength can be achieved through cold working.
