The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is produced from a copper-zinc-lead alloy, containing approximately 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is highly favored for machining applications in Germany and is especially well-suited for use in automatic machines. While hexagonal brass is easy to punch, it has relatively low resistance to corrosion. The material is excellent for hot forming, but cold forming is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold forming increases the hardness and strength of the brass.
