The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is manufactured from a copper-zinc-lead alloy. It typically contains about 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used for machining in Germany and is especially suitable for automatic machines. While hexagonal brass is easy to stamp and hot form, its cold formability is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold forming increases its hardness and strength. However, the material has only moderate resistance to corrosion.
