The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is made from a copper-zinc-lead alloy, containing approximately 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used in Germany for machining applications, especially on automatic machines. It is easy to punch and machine, but has limited corrosion resistance. The alloy can be hot-formed well, but cold-forming is only suitable to a limited extent due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold-working increases its hardness and strength.
