The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is produced from a copper-zinc-lead alloy, typically containing 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used in Germany for machining processes and is especially suited for use in automatic lathes. It is easy to punch and hot-form, although its corrosion resistance is relatively low. Cold forming is possible only to a limited extent due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking, but the material can achieve high hardness and strength through cold working.
