Our brass hexagon, material number 2.0401, is produced from a copper-zinc-lead alloy, typically containing 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used in Germany for machining applications, especially on automatic machines. It’s easy to punch and machine, though it has moderate corrosion resistance. The material can be hot-formed very well, but cold-forming is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold forming increases its hardness and strength.
