Brass hexagon 2.0401 is made from a copper-zinc-lead alloy, containing approximately 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used for machining purposes in Germany and is especially suitable for automatic machining. It is easy to punch and process, though it has limited corrosion resistance. The material can be hot-formed easily, while cold-forming is limited due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold forming increases its hardness and strength.
