Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used for machining applications in Germany and is especially well-suited for automatic machining. Brass hexagons are easy to punch and offer good hot formability, though their corrosion resistance is relatively low. Cold working should be limited to prevent stress corrosion cracking, but high hardness and strength can be achieved through cold forming.
