The brass hexagon with material number 2.0401 is composed of a copper-zinc-lead alloy, containing approximately 57-59% copper, 36-40% zinc, and 2.5-3.5% lead. Known as CuZn39Pb3, this alloy is widely used in Germany for machining applications, especially on automatic machines. It can be punched easily and is highly machinable, though it has limited corrosion resistance. The brass can be hot-formed effectively and cold-formed only to a limited extent due to the risk of stress corrosion cracking. Cold working increases its hardness and strength.
