Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most popular titanium alloy, consisting of approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy can be age-hardened (up to 25 mm thickness), and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. It is highly resistant to corrosion, including seawater, and boasts high strength and toughness at a low density. Titanium Grade 5 is also very resistant to crack initiation and propagation.
