Titanium Grade 5 is the most commonly used titanium alloy, consisting of approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. It is identified by material number 3.7165. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy can be age-hardened (up to 25 mm thickness). It offers excellent hot formability and weldability, along with outstanding corrosion resistance—even in seawater. Titanium 3.7165 is known for its high strength, good toughness, and low density, as well as excellent resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
