Titanium Grade 5 is the most commonly used titanium alloy, containing approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Also known as material number 3.7165, this alloy is age-hardenable (up to 25 mm thick) and differs from pure titanium by offering enhanced mechanical properties. It features excellent hot formability and weldability, high resistance to corrosion (including seawater), and maintains high strength and toughness while remaining lightweight. Grade 5 titanium is also notable for its excellent resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
