Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most commonly used titanium alloy, consisting of approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, Grade 5 can be age-hardened up to thicknesses of 25 mm. This alloy offers excellent hot formability, weldability, high resistance to a variety of corrosive environments including seawater, and combines high strength with good toughness at low weight. It also provides exceptional resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
