Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most commonly used titanium alloy. Its composition includes approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike commercially pure titanium, Grade 5 can be age-hardened (up to 25 mm thick), and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. It is highly resistant to corrosion, including seawater, and features high strength and toughness at a low density. The alloy is known for its outstanding resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
