Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most commonly used titanium alloy. Its composition consists of approximately 88.74 – 91.0% titanium, 5.5 – 6.75% aluminum, 3.5 – 4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, Grade 5 can be age-hardened (up to 25mm thickness) and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. It is highly resistant to various corrosive environments, including seawater. This alloy is known for its high strength, good toughness, and low density, along with outstanding resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
