Titanium Grade 5, also known as 3.7165, is the most commonly used titanium alloy. It contains approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and about 0.015% hydrogen. This alloy can be age-hardened up to 25 mm thickness and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. Titanium 3.7165 is highly resistant to corrosion and seawater, while delivering high strength and toughness at a low weight. It also stands out for its exceptional resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
