Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most commonly used titanium alloy. It consists of approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, 3.7165 is age-hardenable (up to 25 mm thickness), offers excellent hot formability and weldability, and is highly resistant to corrosion and seawater. This alloy is recognized for its high strength, good toughness, low density, and superior resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
