Titanium Grade 5 (material number 3.7165) is the most commonly used titanium alloy. Its composition includes approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike commercially pure titanium, this alloy can be age-hardened (up to 25 mm thickness), and it offers excellent hot formability and weldability. Titanium 3.7165 is highly resistant to many corrosive environments, including seawater, and is noted for its high strength, good toughness, and low density. It also features exceptional resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
