It is easy to roll, forge, and hammer, and while it is a poor electrical conductor, it conducts heat well. At high temperatures, zirconium reacts with most nonmetals, but it remains stable in air due to passivation. The metal is highly resistant to acids but can be attacked by aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid at room temperature. Zirconium is unaffected by aqueous bases and, in powdered form, is pyrophoric. It is non-toxic and naturally present in the human body.
