Monel 400 is an alloy containing approximately 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It is known for its high strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Designated as 2.4360, this material resists stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties up to about 550°C. Monel 400 offers strong resistance to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and their compounds, as well as to seawater, acids, alkalis, and salts, making it suitable for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened.
