Monel 400 is a high-performance alloy containing around 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It is known for its outstanding strength and superior resistance to corrosion. Designated as 2.4360, this material resists stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties up to approximately 550°C. Monel 400 is highly resistant to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and their compounds, as well as seawater, various acids, alkalis, and salt—making it ideal for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 is not hardenable by heat treatment.
At Evek GmbH, you can purchase premium nickel alloys like Monel 400 at competitive prices. As a trusted supplier, we ensure safe and straightforward delivery.
Monel 400, like Monel K 500, is widely used in the chemical industry for applications such as heat exchangers and pressurized gas cylinders for fluorine. Its resistance to skin perspiration also makes it suitable for eyewear manufacturing. Additionally, 2.4360 is used for musical instrument strings (such as electric guitars and plucked instruments). Other typical applications of Alloy 400 include:
- Hydrofluoric acid processing
- Salt production
- Offshore engineering
- Turbine construction
- Shipbuilding
- Valves, pumps, and heat exchangers
Key characteristics of 2.4360:
- High strength
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Stable mechanical properties up to approx. 550°C
- Outstanding resistance to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and related compounds
- Unaffected by seawater, acids, and alkalis
- Excellent resistance to salt
You can confidently purchase Alloy 400 in the Evek GmbH online shop. If you have any further questions, our team is ready to assist you with expert advice and support.
