Monel 400 is an alloy containing about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron, known for its high strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Designated as 2.4360, it withstands stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 550°C. This alloy resists fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and related compounds, and is highly durable against seawater, acids, and alkalis. Its excellent salt resistance makes it suitable for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
